May 23 Spotlights for street fairs and celebrations

 Sorry I am late posting.
Holiday weekend and a lot of partying going on.

So many beautiful goings on and shots it is not easy to pick.

Jackie's shot caught my eyes as I scrolled down the reflections in the window and then on down to the stripes on the tent to the organization of the items for sell just kept drawing me back.

Typical of street fairs I am used to seeing.

Ann's Alpacas's with the red leach and bright green background made for an attractive shot.

I loved Ruth's blog with all the dancers and bright colors.
Yes the shot was very light in front which even more highlighted the glamorous hair styles.

Just had to choose Scriptor's bell, since it is Memorial Day in America.
Ring out the glory for all who have given serve and/or their lives for their country.

Thanks for all the beautiful contributions to our
FSO.

Spotlights: Bridges

Another week has passed, and I think that the contributions we had on the theme "Bridges" were really great. I picked out a few of them to spotlight here:

I just love the bridges depicted in Dawn Treader's post. She really showed us what the different bridges in her town look like, and there is really so much to discover, that I think it's best for you to visit and explore. I know I had a fun time doing it.

I love the color tones in Sarah's bridge shot, but also the way the suspension bridge in her contribution is constructed.  The history behind the bridge is equally fascinating.

The viewpoint in Jim's image is really great, and I like the white lines that are leading the eye into the distance.

There is something in these shots that makes me want to travel and explore. And just like in Dawn Treader's post, there is a wide variety of bridges to choose from. Really lovely images!

I want to thank all the participants. Your posts were amazing, and thank you for linking up. Our next theme is "Street Fairs". Show us the street fairs or similar town activities where you live!

Bridges [Friday My Town Shoot Out] [Link-up]

Another Friday is upon us, and this weeks Theme is "Bridges". What gets the people and vehicles across the divides in your town? Old, new or in between, as well as in disrepair, reclaimed by nature or sparkling new. Show us the bridges of your town - literal and metaphorical.

Also, dear friends, help us share this weeks theme, on your Google+, Facebook or other social media!

Landscape Spotlights

What a fabulous collection of diverse landscapes we had this week.  To cut down on the number of possible spotlights I had chosen I ruled out a couple of favourites because they lacked the "extensive" aspect of the scenery which I feel should be part of a landscape shot.  That's me with my nitpicky hat on.

I'm always aware of my personal bias when I'm doing the spotlights.  Water attracts me, I can't resist it, any image of water is bound to grab my attention.  I hadn't realized the river in Dawn Treader's home town was quite such a prominent feature.  It gives me a wonderful feeling of tranquility.

Christa's stream rushes, happily it seems to me, through her landscape.

But despite my attraction to water, my top favourite this week is Barb's shot of her arid landscape.  I like how the trail entices me to explore further, the colours of the sign stand out just enough to catch my eye, and I can feel the welcome shade of that tree.  It's not a landscape I'd like to lose myself in but its beauty is undeniable.
